To assist practitioners in selecting safer alternatives, new assessment approaches have been developed in the last decade. However, challenges remain on what constitutes “safer” when evaluating
alternatives from both a hazard and exposure perspective – especially in instances of incomplete, uncertain data on human health and environmental endpoints.
