ICCA Board expresses support for ICTA and welcome cooperation

ICTA President Edgar E. Normann and board member Robert Stuyt addressed the ICCA Board on 27 October 2017. They highlighted ICTA’s goals and put forward proposals to reinforce cooperation between both organisations. These include a bi-annual meeting between DG’s from both associations, stronger cooperation in the existing joint task force on RC/ RD, specific proposals for capacity building and utilization of high level contacts.

ICCA President Graham van’t Hoff (Shell) and Director General Marco Mensink (Cefic) welcomed the presentation of ICTA and supported the proposals. Similar support came from Mr. Pang Guanglian (CPCIF), Mr. Ravi Kapoor (ICC), Mr. Sohei Morita (Mitsui Chemicals), Mr. Igor Kukushkin (RCU) and Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun (GPCA). It was very clear that ICTA and ICCA will take all necessary steps to bring this cooperation to a higher level.

Matters of RC/ RD discussed in Singapore

ICTA’s secretary Willem van Lanschot gave a presentation at the ICCA Responsible Care Leadership Group meeting in Singapore on 2 November 2017, hosted by the SCIC. Amongst others he explained how ICTA may support capacity building developing workshops and sharing knowledge. ICTA and ICCA can build on previous work, for instance Cefic and Fecc experiences of projects in Romania. Committee members from all over the world expressed their enthusiasm and approval towork jointly on Responsible Care/ Responsible Distribution. Mr. Patrick Vandenhoecke, President of the ICCA RC LG, emphasised in particular the potential of cooperation between the chemical production and distribution sectors to increase Responsible Care practices in countries and regions where there is no production capacity.

Much of the subsequent discussion focused on ICCA capacity building projects in 2017 and the outlook for next year. Recent developments regarding Responsible Care in China, India, Singapore, Indonesia, Morocco and several other countries were discussed at length. Next to this, projects regarding communication, KPI reporting methods and general rejuvenation of Responsible Care were discussed.

Reports of both meetings can be found on the document section of this website (members only).
