Adapting to Change: Cornelius Group’s Vision for the Future of Chemical Distribution
Dr. Neville Prior, Chairman of Cornelius Group Plc. and ICTA Board Member, shares his perspective on the shifting dynamics of chemical distribution—highlighting sustainable innovation, global growth, and his leadership journey at Cornelius, a key supplier to the personal care, health, and life sciences sectors. Reflecting on current challenges, he describes the industry as weathering a “perfect storm” of geopolitical and economic pressures, yet remaining resilient and forward-looking. Cornelius is meeting these changes head-on by streamlining operations, deepening customer relationships, and leveraging technologies like AI and digital platforms to stay ahead.
Sustainability is central to Cornelius’ strategy. The company actively measures its carbon footprint, invests in green energy, and supports employees in reducing their environmental impact. “Sustainability is no longer optional—it’s expected by customers, employees, and stakeholders alike,” says Prior. He sees ICTA playing a vital role in supporting members through knowledge-sharing and practical tools like seminars and guidance on reporting standards.
Innovation is embedded across the organisation—from lab-based product development to ESG initiatives and digital transformation. “We involve everyone in innovation,” Prior explains, “because it’s the lifeblood of our business.”
Quality and reliability are ensured through robust supplier audits, customer feedback systems, and continuous monitoring of the customer experience. As ICTA prepares to launch its Global Responsible Distribution program, Prior believes it will be a game-changer: “It will raise global standards, reduce incidents, and create a more sustainable competitive environment—especially in regions that need it most.”
